Pullman, WashingtonChaos broke out at Washington State University early on Monday morning when a student was taken into custody for reportedly stabbing a fellow student inside a residence on campus. Students and staff were shocked by the event that happened at Orton Hall.
At 1:18 in the morning, authorities were called to the Pullman campus in response to reports of a violent altercation. Upon arrival, authorities discovered a male student, age 20, with a knife wound on his left arm. The third floor of Orton Hall, a dorm on Olympia Avenue, is where the claimed attack occurred.
Suspect in Custody, Weapon Recovered
Police identified the suspected weapon as a knife, and it was discovered at the site. The suspect was identified as Orton Hall resident Tatiana Martinez, a 20-year-old student. She was brought to the Whitman County Jail after being arrested on second-degree assault charges.
Police say the victim is a Shoreline, Washington, student. After being taken to Pullman Regional Hospital for assessment, he declined medical intervention and was subsequently discharged.
Motive Still Unclear
The victim’s reason for being in the room at the time of the alleged stabbing has not been revealed by investigators. Investigators are still investigating the incident’s circumstances.
