Newton, PennsylvaniaWhen a Pennsylvania man shot an Instacart driver because he thought his house was in danger, what began as a straightforward food delivery descended into mayhem. Residents of Newton Township, a normally peaceful town, were shocked by the commotion that occurred on the evening of January 18.
Unaware that his wife had placed an online grocery order, 43-year-old Nicholas Sabo started the incident by reacting to movement close to his garage.
Police claim that Sabo’s wife misinterpreted the scene and believed that someone could be trying to break into their trailer, which was parked outside. A tragic encounter resulted from the misunderstanding.
A Split-Second Reaction
According to law enforcement officials, Sabo went outdoors to confront what he thought was a possible intruder while armed and frightened. He shot at the delivery man without saying a word either way.
A single bullet struck the driver in both legs, but he escaped back to his car, where his wife and child were waiting tensely.
The motorist bravely drove a short distance despite his injuries before pulling over to seek for help. He was taken to the hospital right after, had surgery, and should get better soon.
A Preventable Tragedy
According to the authorities, Sabo’s wife ordered groceries via Instacart without telling her husband. Confusion increased when their home’s security system picked up movement outside. Tragically, this miscommunication started a series of events that culminated in gunshots.
Sabo was charged with deliberately endangering another person after being taken into custody at the scene.
