New Jersey emergency team deploying to California for disaster recovery support

Trenton, New Jersey. Under the Emergency Management Assistance Compact (EMAC), five employees of the New Jersey Office of Emergency Management (NJOEM) are traveling to California to support disaster recovery activities. The team will respond to a California relief request by supporting FEMA’s Public Assistance (PA) Program.

In their capacity as Task Force Leaders and Program Delivery Managers, the NJOEM team will carry out site and first damage assessments and offer technical advice to county officials about Public Assistance projects. Before possibly being transferred to operational regions such county Emergency Operations Centers, Disaster Recovery Centers, and Local Assistance Centers, they will first go through onboarding in Pasadena, California, where their deployment will commence.

The deployment is a reflection of continued state-to-state cooperation through EMAC, which enables reciprocal assistance in times of crisis and natural disaster.
