A woman from Greenwood County has been charged, along with two others, for allegedly receiving SNAP benefits fraudulently, according to officials.
Authorities have announced that Erin Elizabeth Barber, 48, has been charged with the fraudulent acquisition or use of food stamps exceeding $10,000. The charges were brought by Special Agents from the South Carolina Department of Social Services, Office of Inspector General.
Authorities have revealed that Barber allegedly obtained $21,445 in benefits through fraudulent means during two distinct time frames: from April 2019 to March 2020, and then again from October 2021 to September 2023.
Barber provided information on six SNAP application forms that she completed while living with her two biological children.
It was discovered during the investigation that the children were going to school and residing with their biological father at that time.
Barber has been booked into the Greenwood County Detention Center, and the Eighth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office will handle the prosecution of the case.
Authorities have also apprehended Sasha Michelle Price, a 36-year-old resident of Dillon County, in connection with similar allegations in a separate incident.
According to reports, she has been accused of unlawfully obtaining $10,217 in benefits and has been taken into custody at the Dillon County Detention Center.
The case will be handled by the Fourth Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
A woman named Robyn A. Davis, aged 45, from Horry County, has been arrested on a charge related to fraud. In an unrelated case, she was found guilty of receiving $15,816 in benefits through fraudulent means, according to officials.
She faces an additional charge of forgery for submitting eight falsified pay stubs.
Davis has been taken into custody at the Horry County Detention Center, and the 15th Judicial Circuit Solicitor’s Office will handle the prosecution of the case.
