Thirty-seven years after 19-year-old Susan Sue Swedell disappeared, her family is still searching for answers. The snowy, chilly night started out like any other, with Sue intending to head home after her work at the neighborhood K-Mart. Nobody realized that this would be the last time they heard from her.
A Sudden Disappearance in Blizzard-Like Conditions
Sue called her mother that fateful night to tell her that she would be home shortly, but she decided to wait out the storm at a nearby gas station as the snowstorm grew stronger.
Sue was saw there talking to a tall, well-built man wearing a leather bomber jacket and sandy-brown hair that reached his shoulders.
A gas station attendant heard Sue’s car problems and consented to move her vehicle.
Shortly after, she was spotted boarding a vehicle with the same man and heading out. Nobody would see her again after that.
The Search for Answers Continues
Sue was not there when her maroon 1975 Oldsmobile and pocketbook were discovered at the petrol station the next morning.
Not a single lead has advanced investigators’ efforts to solve the case in spite of years of seeking.
Inmates at the county jail have suddenly become an unexpected source of assistance for the Washington County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities have made the decision to distribute tablets to all jail inmates upon their arrival, providing them with information about Sue’s disappearance. It is hoped that someone will at last reveal information that has been kept under wraps for so long.
A $25,000 Reward for Information
A $25,000 reward is being offered by the sheriff’s office for any information that identifies Sue’s location.
Even as the years go by, Sue’s family isn’t giving up. As a sign of their undying optimism that Sue will return home one day, her mother and sister asked everyone to light a candle in her honor on January 19 at 9:00 PM.
