Illinois State Police Seek Help Identifying Woman Found in Skokie River in 2003

Illinois State Police (ISP) in Des Plaines are looking for the public’s help in identifying a woman whose body was found in the Skokie River over 20 years ago.

Authorities discovered a dead woman floating in the river on July 12, 2003, in the Erickson Woods/Skokie Lagoons area near Northfield and Winnetka, approximately a quarter-mile south of Willow Road. The body was discovered near the North Branch Trail System, south of Lagoon No. 1 and the Skokie River dam.

The woman may have been born between 1964 and 1983 and was between the ages of 20 and 39 when she passed away, according to ISP. She had long, dark hair, weighed between 100 and 150 pounds, and was around 5 feet 2 inches tall. According to her dental records, she had two front teeth extracted and replaced with a porcelain metal bridge, presumably as a result of an injury in the past.

She was discovered sporting a striking scorpion ring and black Lycra shorts, akin to those used by cyclists. Although it is unknown, she might have been Asian, Hispanic, or White.

Anyone with information regarding the crime is urged to call ISP Troop 3 at 847-294-4400 or send a tip at this ISP link.
