Vermont Weather Alert: Snow Squall Warning for Swanton, I-89, and US-7 Friday Morning

Until 5:45 AM EST on Friday, February 7, 2025, a snow squall warning is in place for Swanton, Vermont, affecting I-89, US-7, and the adjacent areas in northern Vermont. Due to heavy, blowing snow, drivers should be ready for whiteout situations and severely low visibility.

The Burlington National Weather Service reports that the snow squall may produce potentially fatal travel conditions, including slick roadways and abrupt reductions in visibility. With an estimated 31,357 inhabitants in the danger zone, the impacted area includes portions of Altona, Chazy, North Hero, and Swanton.

I-87, I-89, and US-11 are among the affected highways, making driving potentially hazardous. If at all possible, authorities advise drivers to postpone their journey or drive extremely carefully during the storm.

Although the warning will end at 5:45 AM, there is a chance that slick conditions could continue into the morning commute. Before you leave, stay informed on the most recent traffic conditions and alerts.
