Indianapolis The INA midweek storm is expected to provide dangerous travel conditions in central Indiana by bringing rain, strong gusts, and maybe snow. Heavy rain is predicted throughout the day and freezing temperatures overnight as the system moves in on Wednesday, perhaps causing ice formation.
Rainfall is expected to begin Wednesday morning and last into the evening, according to the National Weather Service. Roads will be sloppy, particularly along I-70 and major highways, due to wind gusts of up to 20 mph. Temperatures will fall below freezing overnight, raising the possibility of snowy conditions and black ice by Thursday morning.
Thursday will be largely overcast with highs of around 30 degrees Fahrenheit, followed by another chilly night with lows of about 11 degrees. Before another storm system arrives on Friday night, bringing rain and possibly snow, there will be a brief period of brightness.
Locals should plan for slippery and rainy roads, give themselves more time to get there, and keep abreast of any changes. It is suggested that drivers use caution, especially at night when roads may refreeze.
