Florida’s Tallahassee Overnight into Thursday, the Florida Panhandle is predicted to be hit by severe storms that could produce destructive winds, hail, and short-lived tornadoes.
A line of thunderstorms will be triggered by a cold front that moves through the area, according to the Tallahassee National Weather Service. The main risks from severe storms include isolated tornadoes, hail up to the size of a quarter, and wind gusts that are powerful enough to inflict damage. Additionally, as the heavy rain goes through, localized flash floods may occur.
It is anticipated that the storm system will form after midnight, with the most probable opportunity for severe weather occurring on Thursday between 2 a.m. and noon. Although storms will continue to move eastward during the morning and early afternoon, southeast Alabama and the western Florida Panhandle are at the highest risk.
It is recommended that residents in the impacted areas have many ways to get alerts overnight, secure outdoor objects, and remain weather-aware.
