Illinois, Missouri, Kentucky Flood Warning: Ohio River Rising, Minor to Moderate Flooding Expected

Because of the threat posed by rising water levels along the Ohio River, parts of Illinois, Missouri, and Kentucky are still under a flood warning. Important sites like Cairo, Paducah, Olmsted Lock and Dam, and Smithland Dam are expected to experience minor to severe flooding.

Heavy rains are still flowing into the Ohio River, raising water levels above the flood stage in several places, according to meteorologists. The river is already somewhat flooded, and more rises are predicted, the National Weather Service warns.

As floodwaters affect low-lying areas, communities along the Ohio River, such as Paducah and Cairo, should stay vigilant. In addition to avoiding flooded roads and places close to the riverbanks, residents are recommended to keep an eye on official updates.

Up till further notice, the flood alert is still in force. As water levels continue to vary, officials advise being informed through local emergency management channels and becoming ready for any potential effects.
