New England Winter Storm: Up to 18 Inches of Snow and Icing Until Tuesday Night

Boston, MassachusettsThe National Weather Service warns of dangerous driving conditions and possible power outages in many states as the Northeast prepares for more heavy snow and dangerous ice through Tuesday night.

The NOAA Weather Prediction Center reports that up to 18 inches of snow could fall in northern Maine and up to a quarter-inch of ice could accumulate in certain areas of New England, raising the possibility of downed power lines and tree damage.

The Great Lakes will continue to see lake-effect snow through Tuesday, with blizzard-like conditions making travel in the impacted areas all but impossible. Throughout the Eastern United States, particularly throughout the central Appalachians, gusty gusts of up to 70 mph are predicted, which might result in power outages and travel difficulties, especially for well-known cars.

Residents are advised to protect outdoor belongings, stay away from needless travel, and be ready for any power disruptions. If travel is necessary during this storm, authorities advise using local weather services to stay informed and taking precautions.
