Major Home Improvement Chain to Wind Down Business, Closing All Stores; 7 Alabama Locations Hit

LL Flooring, the national home improvement chain previously known as Lumber Liquidators, has announced the closure of all its locations due to the inability to secure a buyer for the chain.

LL Flooring made a recent announcement in August regarding its decision to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy. As part of this process, the company will be closing nearly 100 of its 400 locations, including the Tuscaloosa store. LL recently announced that negotiations with several potential buyers have ended, and the company will now focus on winding down its operations to maximize value for its creditors.

“This is not the outcome that we had hoped for, and as we begin to wind down operations, we are committed to doing so as smoothly as possible to minimize the impact on our associates, customers, vendors and the communities we serve,” the company said in a statement.

Clearance sales are set to commence on September 6th and are expected to wrap up within approximately 12 weeks. According to a report from CNN, approximately 2,000 workers will be affected by the closures.
