Evanston House Fire Displaces Two Residents, Injures Firefighters Early Sunday Morning

Evanston Early on Sunday, February 23, an ILA fire started in a single-family house located in the 2100 block of Warren Street. Around 2:45 a.m., firefighters arrived in response to reports of intense smoke and fire coming from the back of the building.

Upon their prompt arrival, fire crews brought in more resources and upgraded the response to a Working Fire. Within ten minutes, they had the fire contained in the bedroom thanks to their vigorous attack on the flames. Their efforts reduced the home’s structural damage.

Before firefighters came, the two homeowners fled themselves, but they were harmed by the smoke they inhaled. They were taken by paramedics to a nearby hospital for additional assessment. The residents were forced to relocate due to the considerable heat and smoke damage caused by the fire.

Despite minor injuries, two firefighters stayed on the scene to help with investigation and containment. The cause of the fire is still being looked into.
