Missouri Fire Danger: Red Flag Warning in Effect Until 8 PM for Springfield and Surrounding Areas

Springfield, Missouri Due to severe fire conditions caused by strong winds and low humidity, an ARed Flag Warning is still in force throughout Missouri today. Because winds could approach 40 mph, residents in Springfield, the Ozarks, and southeast Kansas are advised to take fire safety precautions and refrain from outdoor burning.

The Springfield National Weather Service said that the warning is in effect Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Forecasters caution that dangerous fire weather conditions will be caused by gusty west winds of 30 to 40 mph and humidity levels as low as 18 to 25%. Any spark or ember has the potential to ignite quickly and spread fires out of control.

Saturday, March 1: Sunny with low-fifty temperatures and wind chills of about thirty degrees in the morning.

Sunday, March 2: Overcast, with highs in the middle of the 50s.Showers are 50% likely to fall overnight and into Monday.

Monday, March 3: mostly sunny, with highs of 64 degrees Fahrenheit with the potential for sporadic showers.

Tuesday, March 4: Showers are expected all day, and stronger storms could form.
