Heartwarming Reunion: Owner Finally Finds Cat Months After Devastating Palisades Fire

Heartwarming Reunion Owner Finally Finds Cat Months After Devastating Palisades Fire

It would appear that the urban legend that all cats have nine lives may be accurate for a Maine coon named Aggie who lives in California.

Due to the fact that the Palisades wildfire in Los Angeles had left her family’s home in ashes, the cherished kitty was thought to have passed away for a period of two months. But her owner, Katherine Kiefer, who was 82 years old, maintained a glimmer of optimism.

A phone call came in for Kiefer from the West Los Angeles Animal Shelter throughout the course of the weekend. In a video that she uploaded to TikTok on Saturday, her daughter Carolyn Kiefer made the announcement of their reunion, which soon received more than one million likes.

In the video, Katherine Kiefer can be seen sobbing uncontrollably as she holds Aggie in her arms while she is crying.

“I was very much worried that I was going to wake up and (discover) it had been a dream,” she stated.

Kiefer was attending a medical appointment on the day that a fire enveloped her area. When her children attempted to save Aggie, even though she had a tendency to hide, they were unsuccessful in their search for her.

“The one thing my mom asked was: ‘Did you get Aggie?” Carolyn remembered.

During the chaotic rush to flee from the Palisades wildfire in January, many people who owned pets had a difficult time getting their cats and other domesticated animals to safety.

In the midst of the Covid-19 pandemic, Katherine Kiefer received a present from a friend in the form of Aggie, who is around five years old.

As of Tuesday afternoon, the family’s GoFundMe campaign for Aggie’s veterinary expenses, which was set at $30,000, has surpassed $21,000.

Several blood transfusions have been performed on the cat, and it is currently being examined by a specialist.

“She was basically skin and bone, and in a state of absolute starvation,” Carolyn stated.
