After being fined more than three billion dollars and pleading guilty to criminal money laundering charges in the previous year for failing to prevent illegal transactions by drug cartels and other criminals, TD Bank has been in the process of reorganizing its leadership.
It is also unable to move forward with its plans to open 150 new branches by the year 2027.
This past week, the tenth largest bank in the United States made the announcement that it will be closing 38 branches located in ten different states throughout the country in order to streamline its operations.
According to a representative who talked with Banking Dive, the closures, which are being referred to as “business-as-usual reviews,” will go into effect on June 5 respectively.
Which branches of TD Bank will be closing their doors?
The majority of the closures will take place in the Northeast and the Mid-Atlantic, with some of them also taking place in the Southeast, which was one of the regions that the company had targeted as a potential expansion area.
In addition to a branch in the District of Columbia, the 10 states that make up the group are as follows: Connecticut, Florida, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, and Virginia.
