Police claim that a toddler’s skull was shattered by an Illinois guy who is currently incarcerated after the young girl hurled his cellphone.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office said in a statement on their Facebook page that Jordan Padilla, 21, had been arrested following a March 15 call to a Plainfield residence.

The call was about a 2-year-old girl who was in the house with her mother and Padilla, her mother’s boyfriend, and was “unconscious but breathing.”

After examining the youngster, the paramedics reported that she had “suspicious injuries” to her face and abdomen. They promptly took her to the hospital for treatment. Police said her condition was far worse than it seemed.

The young child was taken to another hospital in Chicago after receiving treatment at the hospital and being declared critically ill. Police were informed by doctors that she had a “blown left pupil,” a “left-sided gaze preference,” and bruises near her left eye.

They thought she might have internal injuries as well. She suffered a brain bleed and a cracked skull, which the police later discovered.

According to the complaint, Padilla allegedly made “incriminating statements” when investigators questioned him and his girlfriend, who was not identified.

Police claimed that during his initial interrogation, he made claims that were at odds with the injuries the girl had shown up with.

After he was eventually asked to show how he allegedly beat the young child, police came to the conclusion that Padilla used his elbow to strike the youngster in the face.

Padilla allegedly attacked the girl “because he was angry at her for throwing his cellphone at him,” according to allegations made by Will County Sheriff’s Deputy Chief Dan Jungles to the local news outlet.

The mother of the girl was allegedly not present when the alleged event occurred, and Padilla failed to inform her of what transpired.

Battery, domestic battery, aggravated battery, aggravated domestic battery, and aggravated battery on a child were the charges brought against Padilla after her arrest. He is being detained at the Will County Adult Detention Facility until he appears in court again.
