FREDERICK, MD — A Frederick County engineer was left speechless after winning $50,000 on the Maryland Lottery’s Ice scratch-off game, officials announced Wednesday.
The lucky winner purchased a $10 ticket at the Wawa located at 5833 Ballenger Creek Pike. After initially winning $10 and then $15 on two separate tickets, he played a third ticket and received a message from the scanner that read “Go to Lottery.” Unsure of the message’s meaning, he scratched the ticket himself.
“I needed to scratch that ticket to find out if I won anything,” he said. Upon revealing a matching number, he uncovered the $50,000 prize. “I was speechless. It was a nice surprise.”
The winner plans to use the money to help his family and pay off bills.
SECOND-TIER PRIZES STILL AVAILABLE
The Ice scratch-off game launched on April 21 and has continued to generate excitement among Maryland Lottery players. Four of the six $100,000 top prizes remain unclaimed. This marks the second $50,000 prize awarded, with six additional second-tier prizes still available, along with prizes ranging from $10 to $1,000.
