Linden police seek suspect who attacked woman on North Park Avenue

LINDEN, NJ — Police are asking for the public’s assistance in identifying a suspect accused of assaulting a woman last week on North Park Avenue.

According to the Linden Police Department, the incident took place on June 3 at approximately 10 p.m. The victim reported that she was being followed and harassed by the suspect as she crossed East St. George Avenue from Warinanco Park toward North Park Avenue.

After asking the man to leave her alone, the woman began recording him on her phone as he continued to follow her. Police say the suspect then ran up from behind, shoved her to the ground, and fled back toward East St. George Avenue.

The woman was treated for minor injuries after the assault.


Suspect description released

The suspect is described as a Black man wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, black sweatpants, white socks, and black sandals at the time of the incident.

Authorities have released this description in hopes that members of the public may provide information to assist in the investigation.

The Linden Police Department continues to investigate and encourages anyone with information to come forward.
