Wegmans stop turns into millionaire moment for Maryland man

LANHAM, Maryland. When an Upper Marlboro man bought a Quick Pick ticket for the June 18 drawing while having lunch at Wegmans in Lanham, he was able to claim a $1 million Cash4Life award.

The resident of Prince George’s County won the second-tier reward of $1,000 per week for life after matching all five white balls but missing the Cash Ball. The winner and his spouse visited Lottery Headquarters and decided to take the $1 million one-time cash option.

The Wegmans shop at 9001 McHugh Drive is where the winning ticket was purchased. A $2,500 incentive will be given to the retailer for selling the ticket. The player’s $10 multi-line ticket also earned an extra $2 on one other line.

According to the player, he confirmed the prize with a cashier after scanning his ticket the day following the drawing and seeing a notice telling him to go to Lottery Headquarters. Until they checked the ticket together at home, his wife didn’t trust the news at first.

Maryland’s first second-tier Cash4Life prize of the year

This is the first second-tier Cash4Life winner in Maryland in 2025 and the 12th since the game’s 2016 debut in the state. Two top prizes are available in the game: $1,000 each day for life and $1,000 per week for life. Players who match the first five numbers without the Cash Ball win the second-tier reward.

Tickets for Cash4Life are available in ten states and cost $2. Players choose five numbers from 1 to 60 and one Cash Ball number from 1 to 4 for the drawings, which take place every night at 9 p.m.
