New Jersey’s Toms River.In addition to a detainer issued by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), a woman who was arrested this week and taken to Ocean County Jail faces several criminal charges, including aggravated assault on a law enforcement officer and hurling bodily fluids at a corrections official.
On Tuesday, June 24, Eni Martin DeMelo, who is also known as Eni M. De Melo in the documents, was committed to the jail. She is charged under the New Jersey criminal code with two third-degree felonies, including aggravated assault against a law enforcement officer and assault involving bodily fluids directed at Department of Corrections employees, as well as obstruction of the administration of law and disorderly persons offense, according to inmate data.
She was freed from jail after being jailed on a judicial contempt order last year.
The defendant was placed under ICE detainer.
In relation to DeMelo’s custody status, U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has issued a detainer. According to the records, ICE filed detainer number 216083199, signaling possible removal procedures while criminal charges are being resolved.
DeMelo is still being held without bond because no bail was imposed in this instance. No estimated release date has been given as of yet, and the case status is indicated as open.
DeMelo is still being held at Ocean County Jail after being taken into custody at 9:29 p.m. on June 24.
