NJ Transit Train Catches Fire Forcing Commuters to Seek Alternative Transportation on Wednesday Commute

LAKE SPRING, N.J.The North Jersey Coast Line experienced delays Wednesday night due to a minor fire in the engine compartment of a southbound NJ Transit train, according to transit authorities.

At the Spring Lake station, the incident happened at approximately 7 p.m. At 5:01 p.m., Train 3363 left Manhattan’s Penn Station and was expected to reach Bay Head at 7:07 p.m.

According to NJ Transit, none of the 55 passengers and crew members on board were hurt. Local fire units arrived on the site, and the fire was swiftly suppressed.

Travelers are compelled to look for other modes of transportation.

Affected passengers made arrangements for other forms of transportation from Spring Lake after the inconvenience. NJ Transit did not say how long the delays lasted or when full service will start up again.
