Newark, New Jersey.On Tuesday afternoon, June 2, three suspects in a blue Infiniti targeted a pedestrian in a daylight shooting that left shell casings but no casualties, shattering a peaceful section of Avon Avenue.
The city’s ShotSpotter system picked up gunfire in the 100 block of Avon Avenue just before 2:00 p.m. on June 3. Six bullet casings were found at the location by responding cops. After passing the victim, the suspect’s car halted, according to surveillance footage, and one person jumped out to pursue the target while another fired from the front passenger seat.
The suspect swiftly got back into the automobile after getting out, and the car drove off in an easterly direction on Avon Avenue. Following a collision, the Infiniti was discovered abandoned, with all of its occupants escaping on foot north on Martin Luther King Boulevard and then east on Crawford Street.
Investigators’ Released Suspect Descriptions
Suspect #1 is described as a slim-built Black man wearing a black ski mask, white sneakers, and a grey tracksuit. Suspect #2 was dressed in light hues and had on white sneakers. Surveillance footage showed Suspect #3 wearing black and grey Retro #3 Air Jordan sneakers and looking to have long hair or dreadlocks.
Investigators think the gunfire was targeted, and no one was hurt in the event. Although the suspects’ car was found, it was not reported stolen, and its relationship to the people is still being looked into.
Although no witnesses were hurt, the incident happened in broad daylight in a residential area with several businesses close by.
