Alleged gunman found months after Benning Road shooting

Washington, D.C.Federal and local authorities have taken into custody a man who was wanted in relation to a shooting that occurred on Benning Road during the day last December.

At around 1:39 p.m. on Monday, December 16, a man was shot in the 1500 block of Benning Road NE. He was sent to a nearby hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening wounds after being discovered breathing and aware from a gunshot wound.

Kyre Robinson, 22, of Southeast D.C., was found and taken into custody by members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force on Monday, June 16. Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) is the charge against him.

Months of investigation and the issuance of a DC Superior Court warrant preceded the arrest.

Arrest made in months-old Northeast shooting

No more information regarding the circumstances surrounding the shooting or whether Robinson and the victim were acquainted has been made public by investigators. The Fifth District is still considering the case.
