by President Trump threatened to withdraw the citizenship of comedian and actress Rosie O’Donnell, one of his lifelong enemies in the entertainment industry, saying he was considering using the government’s power against her.
Mr. Trump stated on Truth Social just before 10 a.m. on Saturday, “I am seriously considering taking away Rosie O’Donnell’s citizenship because she is not in the best interests of our Great Country.”
Ms. O’Donnell moved to Ireland in January after Mr. Trump was elected to a second term, and the president labeled her a threat to humanity and advised her to remain there.
Mr. Trump’s provocative remarks on Ms. O’Donnell come at a time when his administration is facing several criticisms: There are still unresolved issues around the decision to stop munitions to Ukraine and who approved it; the homeland security chief is under heavy scrutiny over FEMA’s response in Texas; his top law enforcement officials are engaged in a fierce battle over the Jeffrey Epstein case; and so on.
On Instagram, Ms. O’Donnell responded to Mr. Trump with a flurry of her own comments.
She claimed that the president of the United States has always detested the fact that I perceive him for what he is: a criminal, a scam artist, a sexual abuser, and a liar who wants to ruin our country for his own gain. I relocated to Ireland for this reason.
In a later post, she further made fun of the president by displaying a 1997 Palm Beach, Florida, photo of Mr. Trump with Jeffrey Epstein.
