U.S. Pauses Visitor Visas for Gazans After Laura Loomer Posts

Those seeking medical attention in the United States, particularly young children who came in recent weeks with critical ailments, rely on visitor visas, which the Trump administration stated on Saturday it had suspended approving.

The State Department stated that it would evaluate those visas’ application procedure. The department said in a statement on X Saturday morning that all visiting permits for citizens of Gaza are being suspended while we carry out a comprehensive and in-depth review.

The action followed a vigorous lobbying effort by right-wing activist Laura Loomer, who began targeting a charity organization that assists with medical evacuations on Friday and described the impending flights as a national security threat in a barrage of social media posts.

Only a few weeks ago, the nonprofit organization HEAL Palestine, which supports Palestinian families and children and is based in Ohio, started planning what it described as the largest medical evacuation of injured children from Gaza to the United States. This involved transporting sick and injured Gazan children to the United States for medical treatment.

The organization said that it has flown to hospitals in nine U.S. cities this month to treat 63 injured children, including 11 between the ages of 6 and 15. Many of the kids had lost limbs in the Gaza conflict. According to HEAL Palestine, after their medical treatment is finished, they will likely go to Egypt to be with their family again.

Requests for response from the organization, which was established a year ago and runs food kitchens in Gaza, were not answered.
