Teen arrested for carjacking pizza delivery driver in South Jersey

GLOUCESTER TOWNSHIP, N.J. — A juvenile has been arrested and charged after a pizza delivery driver was robbed, assaulted, and carjacked at the Millbridge Apartments complex on Sunday evening, police said.

The incident occurred around 7:46 p.m. when the Gloucester Township Police Department received a report of the robbery. According to the initial investigation, the suspect ordered pizza to the 900 block of Millbridge Apartments and, upon the driver’s arrival, pretended to search his pockets for money. The suspect then punched the driver in the head, stole his vehicle, and attempted to flee.

As the suspect tried to escape, he crashed the stolen vehicle into two parked cars within the apartment complex. Police arrived quickly and observed an individual matching the suspect’s description fleeing on foot into a wooded area. Officers initiated a pursuit and observed the suspect discarding clothing along the way. A K-9 unit from the Pine Hill Police Department assisted in the search.

The suspect was eventually apprehended near Emerson Court, close to a Planet Fitness, without further incident. The delivery driver sustained minor injuries but refused medical treatment. There were no reported injuries to police or the suspect.

The juvenile was charged with robbery, carjacking, motor vehicle theft, assault, and resisting arrest. He was processed and transported to the Camden County Juvenile Detention Center.

Gloucester Township Police urged local food delivery businesses to verify orders and encourage drivers to exercise caution, turn off and lock vehicles when exiting, and remain aware of their surroundings. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities are asking anyone with additional information to contact police.
