Nottingham Man Discovers Powerball Ticket Worth $50K in His Car

NOTTINGHAM, Md. – A Nottingham resident, using the alias “Malcolm Reynolds,” was surprised to find a $50,000 Powerball ticket hiding in a pile of lottery tickets in his car.

A fan of the TV series Firefly, “Malcolm Reynolds” realized his habit of accumulating unscanned tickets paid off when a friend helped him check the pile using a Lottery app. After scanning smaller winning tickets, they uncovered the $50,000 third-tier prize. “I told her to scan it again,” he recalled, before double-checking the numbers online to confirm the win.

The ticket matched five numbers from the Sept. 28 Powerball drawing: 3, 11, 13, 24, and 39, with the Powerball number being 22. While he missed out on the $245 million jackpot by one number, his prize still amounted to a significant $50,000.

The winning ticket was purchased at Looney’s Pub in Bel Air, Harford County. “Malcolm Reynolds” plans to deposit his winnings into the bank.
