A Georgia man was indicted on charges of first-degree murder and other offenses for his alleged role in the killing of a Central Islip resident in 2022, Suffolk County District Attorney Raymond A. Tierney announced Tuesday. Prosecutors said the incident stemmed from the victim parking in front of a Bay Shore home.
The defendant, Christopher Perdomo, 27, and six others, including a 22-year-old Bay Shore woman and five adolescents, face murder charges in connection with the killing of Linver Ortiz Ponce, 29. Authorities allege that Ortiz Ponce was attacked and killed following a verbal dispute over where he parked his car.
“The alleged murder in this case occurred with no provocation and for no good reason,” said District Attorney Tierney. “No one deserves to suffer a violent death for simply parking a car.”
According to investigators, the confrontation began on September 16, 2022, around midnight, when Ortiz Ponce parked a red Chevrolet Camaro in front of Kayla Alvarenga’s home on Fifth Avenue. Alvarenga allegedly ordered Ortiz Ponce to move his vehicle, and during the altercation, she called Perdomo and others to come to the scene.

Police say Perdomo, three adolescents, and Alvarenga conspired to locate Ortiz Ponce after he attempted to flee on foot, leading to his alleged abduction and fatal beating. Video surveillance reportedly showed both the stolen Camaro and a stolen BMW, which had been used by the suspects, leaving Alvarenga’s residence.
