ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. — The Atlantic City Police Department arrested six individuals, including a juvenile, during three separate incidents on Tuesday night, recovering a handgun and various drugs, authorities reported Thursday.
More than 20 officers responded to a large fight on the 600 block of Absecon Boulevard at approximately 5:46 p.m., where police estimated around 30 women were involved in an active altercation. Despite the use of lights and sirens, officers were unable to immediately disperse the crowd. Four women were taken into custody and charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct, according to the police.
Two hours later, at 7:45 p.m., Officers Bayron Zelaya-Chavez and Juan Perez-Delacruz responded to a call on North Georgia Avenue after hearing a man screaming. Upon arrival, the officers discovered Eugene Brown, 53, allegedly assaulting another man in an attempted robbery. Brown was found in possession of five grams of cocaine and taken into custody. The victim received treatment at the scene.
The final arrest occurred at 8:36 p.m. when officers observed a group of males loitering near a no-trespassing sign on the first block of South Florida Avenue. When approached, one individual attempted to flee down an alley but was apprehended. The 16-year-old juvenile male, whose identity has not been released, was found with a loaded handgun and small amounts of cocaine and heroin, police said.
The four women arrested on Absecon Boulevard were identified as Taniyah Bond, 20, of Pleasantville; Dominique Sheppard, 22, of Atlantic City; Briana Stukes, 22, of Atlantic City; and Sapphire Stukes-Cabell, 18, of Atlantic City. All were released with a summons and a future court date.
Brown was charged with robbery, aggravated assault, possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and resisting arrest, and was remanded to the Atlantic County Justice Facility. The juvenile was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, and was remanded to the Harborfields Detention Facility.
