Mistress of Gruesome Double Murder Suspect Slapped with Murder and Multiple Other Charges

TOMS RIVER, N.J. — A Seaside Heights woman has been indicted on multiple charges, including murder and conspiracy to commit murder, following an investigation into the killing of a Toms River resident in July. The Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office announced that Elizabeth Mascarelli, 29, faces a series of charges related to the death of Kerry Rollason, 56, whose dismembered remains were discovered in Jackson Township.

Prosecutor Bradley D. Billhimer confirmed Thursday that a grand jury indicted Mascarelli on charges of murder, conspiracy to commit murder, desecration of human remains, hindering apprehension, and several weapons charges. The indictment includes allegations of possessing two handguns, a hatchet, and a defaced weapon in connection to the events that took place on or around July 3 at a residence on Ravenwood Drive.

Three others were also indicted in the case. Danielle Bolstad, 42, Jared Krysiak, 34, and Jared Palumbo, 36, face charges of hindering apprehension and desecration of human remains. According to Billhimer, the investigation uncovered that all three suspects assisted in dismembering and disposing of Mr. Rollason’s body.

The events began to unfold on July 5, when law enforcement, led by the Ocean County Prosecutor’s Office, located Maxwell Johnston, 35, at the Ravenwood Drive residence. Johnston was wanted in connection with the murder of Gabriella Caroleo, 25, in Manchester Township days earlier. Negotiators attempted to have Johnston surrender, but the standoff ended with his death by a self-inflicted gunshot.

Further investigation linked Mascarelli to both the dismemberment and harboring of Johnston. Detectives discovered multiple body parts in black bags at a property in Jackson Township, along with a hatchet allegedly used in the crime. The Ocean County Medical Examiner later confirmed that Rollason died of multiple gunshot wounds and blunt force trauma.

“Although our investigation originally led us to believe that Johnston murdered Mr. Rollason at the Ravenwood Drive residence, our continuing thorough and extensive investigation has revealed that Mascarelli conspired with Johnston and was, in fact, the person responsible for Mr. Rollason’s death,” Billhimer stated.

Upon arrival, negotiators attempted to persuade Johnston to surrender peacefully, but he refused. After several hours, a female occupant, Mascarelli, exited the residence and was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River for injuries sustained during the standoff. Johnston was later found deceased in a bedroom from an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Further investigation revealed that Mascarelli had allowed Johnston to stay at her residence for four days despite knowing of his involvement in Caroleo’s murder. Mascarelli was charged with Hindering a Fugitive from Justice and will be transferred to the Ocean County Jail pending a detention hearing.

Sources within law enforcement today have confirmed that Maxwell Johnston, the fugitive murder suspect who killed himself after a tense standoff with police officers in Toms River, was with another woman inside a Toms River home before police entered the house.

According to the reliable source, the woman was a girlfriend of Johnston, and the pair reportedly published their final intimate moments together on Instagram before his self-inflicted demise. The woman, who was later seen being taken away by ambulance, was reportedly injured after a police teargas canister struck her in the head.

The pair engaged in a sexual act before his death, the source confirmed tonight. The video and photos were posted to Instagram under the account Glizzygrimm. That account belongs to Elizabeth Mascarelli, who has a police record that includes the possession, manufacturing, and distribution of drugs.

In one photo published on her Instagram page, the two are seen have relations. A bullet hole was clearly visible in the shattered mirror in the Ravenwood Court bedroom. Maxwell was holding a gun, presumably the one he killed himself and Gabriella Caroleo with. Both topless, Mascarelli is seen licking the gun in one photo.

In another photo, Maxwell is seen making a ‘finger gun’ motion to his head, indicating that he was going to kill himself. Mascarelli was smiling in the photo.
