Frustration For Marvel Fans: Venom 3 Delivers Third Consecutive Letdown

Frustration For Marvel Fans Venom 3 Delivers Third Consecutive Letdown

Despite Marvel’s success with adult-targeted films like “Deadpool & Wolverine,” Sony remains committed to a lower age rating for its “Venom” films. Fans had hoped “Venom: The Last Dance” would finally receive a higher age rating due to the character’s brutal nature. However, the official rating in Germany is 12 and up, disappointing many who wanted a darker, more violent film.

This marks the third time fan requests for a more mature Venom movie have been denied, following similar disappointments in 2018’s “Venom” and 2021’s “Venom: Let There Be Carnage,” despite the character’s violent tendencies.

So now there is no higher age rating for the announced farewell. Fans can console themselves with the fact that according to the US assessment, we can still expect “bloody scenes”, “intense violence and action sequences” and “strong language”.

“Venom 3 Brings Eddie Brock’s Journey to a Satisfying End, Says Tom Hardy”

Tom Hardy teased a satisfying conclusion to Eddie Brock’s story in Venom: The Last Dance, the final chapter in the Venom trilogy.

Picking up after his cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home, the film will see Eddie and the symbiote face a new threat in their universe.

In an interview, Hardy confirmed he has no regrets about how Eddie’s journey ends, saying everything he wanted to explore with the character has been included.

The third film will bring closure to Eddie’s story in Sony’s Spider-Man Universe ahead of its post-2024 future.

“Tom Hardy: Everything in the kitchen sink that we wanted [to give] time allocated [is] in this movie. This is the purest version of Kelly and I together, like giving [an] offering, a harvest of optionality within the wheelhouse of a character, and the aperture that we chose to come through in the tone we chose to set and to build on. We’re encouraging ourselves to continue down that pathway because you can always tone something down, but it’s very hard to come in big and show, ‘Okay, let’s take some risks here.’ It’s easier to say, ‘Let’s [do] less of that,’ than it is to say, ‘Can you bring it up?’

In that aspect, and everything that you see in The Last Dance is from Kelly’s imagination, and mine too. But there’s nothing left out. It’s surgically chosen and delivered, like right down to the shots. It’s a full reflection of the internal process of somebody who deeply cares about the work.

And let me also stress that this is her first movie [that she directed], and at this level, your first job, the first day, technically, symbolically speaking, it’s mind-blowing. So I’m really proud of you [to Kelly Marcel.]”

What Tom Hardy’s Comments Mean For Venom: The Last Dance?

Since its 2018 debut, Venom has been Sony’s most successful Spider-Man Universe character. Despite Venom’s popularity and financial success, Tom Hardy’s recent comments about Venom: The Last Dance suggest the film will conclude Eddie Brock’s story.

Hardy, having played a key creative role in Eddie’s character arc, is content with this decision, believing it’s important not to overextend a character’s story.

While Venom: The Last Dance may mark the end of Eddie’s journey, future symbiote tales could focus on other characters. The movie’s specifics are carefully presented in German for those who are interested, covering all the important facts.
