Five children were taken to the hospital with minor injuries after a car crashed into a Winter Haven daycare, the police department said.
A Citrus Connection bus reportedly collided with a small sedan on Havendale Boulevard at about 11:15 a.m. on Monday.
The impact forced the sedan off the road and through the glass window of The Children Of The King Enrichment Center, a Christian daycare.
Everyone inside the building was accounted for. Five children were taken to the hospital to be evaluated for “possible minor injuries,” WHPD said.
The sedan’s driver was also hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.
A nearby shopkeeper told 8 On Your Side that crashes are common on this stretch of Havendale Boulevard. He said a blind curve leads into an intersection, and most drivers ignore the speed limit there.
Police have not released any details about what caused the initial crash or the condition of the bus driver.
