Maine State Police Arrest Two for Biddeford Homicide September Killing



Biddeford, ME – Authorities arrested two suspects Monday night in connection with the September 27 murder of 46-year-old Gene Dares in Biddeford. Maine State Police Major Crimes Unit South, along with Biddeford Police, detained 45-year-old Garret Labonte and 57-year-old Linda Lambert, both residents of Biddeford. The pair was taken into custody without incident at a South Street location.

According to the Maine State Police, the homicide occurred at 135-137 Foss Street, where Dares was reportedly killed. Labonte now faces charges of murder, felony murder, and robbery, while Lambert is charged with felony murder and robbery.

Both suspects are expected to face arraignment soon. Police have not disclosed a possible motive, but the charges suggest robbery as a potential factor. The investigation is ongoing as authorities continue gathering evidence related to the case.

The arrests come after weeks of investigation, with law enforcement leveraging various leads to connect Labonte and Lambert to the crime. This case marks another collaborative effort between local and state authorities in addressing violent crime in the Biddeford area.
