Colorado Winter Weather Advisory: Up to 4 Inches of Snow Expected in Mountain Regions Until Evening

Grand Junction, CO – Colorado’s Northwest San Juan and Elk Mountain ranges are under a winter weather advisory as heavy snow is expected to impact high-altitude regions throughout Tuesday. Snow accumulations could reach up to 4 inches above 9,000 feet, according to the National Weather Service.

The advisory, issued early Tuesday, affects the Northwest San Juan Mountains, Gore and Elk Mountains, Central Mountain Valleys, Grand and Battlement Mesas, and Sawatch Mountains. The NWS advises caution for travelers on roads, bridges, and overpasses, warning that slick and hazardous conditions could complicate both morning and evening commutes.

Gusty winds may also contribute to hazardous conditions by bringing down tree branches, potentially creating obstacles for travelers. Motorists should slow down and use caution while driving in affected areas. For the latest road conditions, residents are encouraged to call 511 before setting out.

The advisory remains in effect until 6 p.m. MDT Tuesday.
