Albuquerque’s Weather Forecast: Rain Showers, Wind Gusts and Snow Expected in New Mexico Through Thursday

Albuquerque, NM – Thunderstorms and gusty winds will impact Albuquerque residents on Monday, with rain and possible slick roads creating hazardous driving conditions across central and western New Mexico. The National Weather Service (NWS) warns of scattered showers moving northeast at 20 to 25 mph, bringing brief downpours that could cause ponding on roads and limited visibility. Gusts could reach up to 45 mph in some areas, heightening the risk of debris and challenging driving conditions. Residents should be cautious, especially during peak travel hours.

According to the NWS Albuquerque, showers could drop up to 0.20 inches of rain by Monday afternoon, impacting areas such as Chaco Canyon, Gallup, and Santa Fe. Motorists are advised to reduce speed on highways, as ponding water and gusty winds could pose a safety hazard. The NWS also recommends securing loose outdoor items and avoiding low-lying areas prone to flooding.
