Big win in Mineola as Powerball player claims $50K prize

MINEOLA, N.Y. — A Powerball ticket worth $50,000 was sold at a 7-Eleven in Mineola, the New York Lottery announced on Monday. The ticket matched four of the five white balls and the red Power Ball in the Saturday, Nov. 2, drawing, earning the third-place prize.

The winning ticket was purchased at the 7-Eleven located at 207 Jericho Turnpike, according to lottery officials. No jackpot-winning ticket was sold in the drawing, allowing the top prize to continue growing.

Powerball drawings occur every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m. Players select five numbers from a pool of 1 to 69, along with one red Power Ball from a separate pool of 1 to 26. The third-prize ticket matched enough numbers to secure the $50,000 prize, though it fell short of the full jackpot.

The New York Lottery, the largest lottery in North America, provided $3.8 billion in funding for public schools in New York during the 2023-2024 fiscal year.
