BARDONIA, N.Y. — A brush fire in the Joseph Lane area of Bardonia spread to a nearby shed on Monday, prompting a swift response from the Nanuet Fire Department and mutual aid units, according to the Clarkstown Police Department.

Firefighters worked to contain and extinguish the flames, but the cause of the fire has not yet been determined. No injuries were reported, and authorities have not provided an estimate of the damage.

In response to ongoing dry conditions in the region, Rockland County Executive Ed Day has issued a ban on open burning to reduce the risk of further fires. The Clarkstown Police Department urged residents to comply with the order to help prevent similar incidents.

Rockland County remains under heightened fire risk due to the lack of recent rainfall, and officials are advising residents to exercise caution with any outdoor activities that could spark a fire.
