OCEAN COUNTY, N.J. — Donald J. Trump received over twice as many votes as Kamala D. Harris in Ocean County, according to election results, although he ultimately failed to carry New Jersey overall. Trump captured 67.3% of the votes in this predominantly conservative county, totaling 219,969 votes, while Harris, the Democratic candidate, secured 31.23%, translating to 102,079 votes.
New Jersey, a reliably Democratic state in recent elections, did not swing in Trump’s favor at the statewide level. Ocean County, however, showcased significant support for the former president, a continuation of a trend where the county leans heavily Republican even as the state remains a Democratic stronghold.
Independent candidates collectively received a small share of the Ocean County vote, with Robert F. Kennedy Jr., running as an independent, earning 0.59% with 1,921 votes. Other independent candidates, including Randall A. Terry, Claudia De la Cruz, Rachele Fruit, Chase Oliver, Jill Stein, and Joseph Kishore, each received less than 1% of the total vote in Ocean County.
While Trump’s strong performance in Ocean County did not offset his overall loss in New Jersey, the results highlight the county’s distinct voting pattern compared to the state’s broader electorate. Ocean County’s support for Trump reflects its established conservative leaning, even as New Jersey remains a reliably blue state.
The Democratic candidate’s narrow support in Ocean County underlines the contrasting political landscape within New Jersey, with urban and suburban areas contributing to Harris’ statewide win, while rural and traditionally conservative areas, like Ocean County, continue to rally behind Republican candidates.
