GAITHERSBURG, Md. — Montgomery County Police have arrested Abraham Luna Perez, 26, of Silver Spring, in connection with the October 22 murder of his roommate, 19-year-old Diego Edilberto Borja-Cardona. Luna Perez faces a charge of first-degree murder and is being held without bond.
According to police, officers responded to a report at approximately 2:38 p.m. on October 22 in the 9300 block of Piney Branch Road. Upon arrival, they found Borja-Cardona’s body in the bushes behind a bus stop. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
An autopsy conducted by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Baltimore confirmed Borja-Cardona’s death as a homicide, though police have not yet disclosed the specific cause of death.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division quickly focused on Luna Perez as a suspect, identifying him as Borja-Cardona’s roommate. Investigators have not released information regarding a possible motive in the killing.
On November 1, Luna Perez was taken into custody by Montgomery County Police investigators assigned to the U.S. Marshals Capital Area Task Force. He was then transported to the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit, where he was formally charged with first-degree murder.
The investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue to gather evidence related to the case. No further details have been released by authorities at this time.
