SEATTLE, WA
– It’s not every day that Seattle police get a call about a dinosaur prowling the streets, but that’s exactly what happened last month in Capitol Hill. Early on Friday, October 11, at around 3 a.m., a 911 call came in reporting an unusual intruder. According to the caller, a “dinosaur” had broken into his Capitol Hill apartment building and was swiping packages.
A Dino on the Prowl in Capitol Hill
Police arrived on the scene and quickly spotted a suspect matching the description: a man in a distinctly “period-inaccurate” green dinosaur costume carrying a backpack packed with mail that didn’t seem to belong to him.
The dinosaur-loving man-child was riding a bike near Cal Anderson Park, seemingly unfazed by his prehistoric disguise. When officers tried to approach, he attempted a getaway but didn’t make it far. The suspect was detained shortly afterward and identified as a 34-year-old man.
Booked on Burglary Charges (And Some Laughs)
Police took him into custody and booked him into King County Jail on two counts of burglary.
The arrest video, shared by the Seattle Police Department on social media, sparked a mix of amusement and disbelief, especially given the department’s own humorous take. “Listen, we know it’s election day and stress is high, but we arrested a dinosaur,” the department quipped, giving Seattle residents a moment of levity amid the week’s usual news cycle.
