Trump Announces Pompeo, Haley Will Not Be in Second Term Cabinet

PALM BEACH, Fla. — Former President Donald J. Trump announced on social media Friday night that he would not be including former Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley or former Secretary of State Mike Pompeo in any future administration should he return to the White House.

In a post shared on both X (formerly Twitter) and Facebook, Trump stated that while he “very much enjoyed and appreciated working with them previously,” he would not be inviting Haley or Pompeo to join a new administration, which he described as “currently in formation.” Trump concluded his message with his signature slogan, “MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN.”

The announcement comes as Trump continues his campaign for the Republican nomination in the 2024 presidential race. Both Haley and Pompeo held prominent roles in the Trump administration, with Haley serving as U.N. ambassador from 2017 to 2018 and Pompeo serving first as CIA director and later as secretary of state from 2018 to 2021.

Neither Haley nor Pompeo has publicly responded to Trump’s post. Haley is currently running against Trump in the 2024 Republican primary, polling behind him but gaining ground in recent months. Pompeo, who had considered a presidential bid, announced in April that he would not run in 2024.

Trump’s comments reflect the shifting dynamics within the Republican Party as he positions himself against both former allies and current rivals. His announcement suggests that he is already considering potential cabinet appointments and other senior roles should he return to the Oval Office.
