ST. PAUL, MN

– With Thanksgiving around the corner, Campbell’s is making sure holiday tables and homes alike are ready for “Sides Season.” This year, the iconic brand is celebrating with a twist: a limited-edition collection of scented candles inspired by classic holiday side dishes. The scents bring favorite flavors off the plate and into the air, giving side dish lovers a way to celebrate their favorites like never before.

Campbell’s Annual “State of the Sides” Report

In its annual “State of the Sides Report,” Campbell’s reveals how America’s love for side dishes is growing stronger than ever. More than half of survey respondents—55%—said they’d rather fill up on side dishes than the traditional turkey centerpiece at Thanksgiving.

A strong preference for sides isn’t the only trend; 60% said they enjoy cooking side dishes more than preparing the turkey, and 40% said they’d be just as happy eating only side dishes.

“For generations, Campbell’s has been at the center of holiday traditions and tables, bringing flavor to family tables across the country,” said Marci Raible, Vice President of Integrated Marketing at Campbell’s. “As we celebrate the third year of our State of the Sides Report, it’s clear that side dishes are the cornerstone of holiday meals and memories—and Campbell’s is an essential ingredient in creating these beloved dishes.”

Friendsgiving and Comfort Foods Rise in Popularity

Friendsgiving gatherings are on the rise, too, with nearly 45% of respondents planning to celebrate with friends. Known for a casual vibe and a variety of shared dishes, Friendsgiving celebrations often shine a spotlight on sides. Comfort foods are also top picks for holiday spreads, with 45% of respondents saying they love creamy side dishes, and 38% favoring cheesy options.

In fact, comfort food favorites aren’t just for adults. Among Gen Z respondents aged 18–27, 45% named Mac and Cheese as their top side dish, a number that confirms this creamy classic’s place at the Thanksgiving table.

The “Sides of the Season” Candle Collection

For this year’s “Sides Season,” Campbell’s has teamed up with family experience company Camp to create the Campbell’s Limited Edition Candle Collection: The Scents of Sides Season. This exclusive line includes four scents, each inspired by a beloved holiday side:

Green Bean Casserole Candle

: A nostalgic mix with top notes of cream and celery, mid notes of fried onion and mushroom, and a base of buttery green beans. Inspired by the recipe Campbell’s first introduced in 1955.

Jalapeño Cheddar Mac & Cheese Candle

: A creamy, cheese-forward aroma with a touch of spicy jalapeño to bring a little heat.

Apple, Fennel & Herb Stuffing Candle

: This scent combines the earthy notes of fennel, thyme, and rosemary, reminiscent of a savory stuffing.

Everything Bagel-Seasoned Mashed Potatoes Candle

: A comforting, buttery candle with hints of garlic, perfect for mashed potato fans.

Starting on Nov. 18, fans can snag one of these candles at Camp.com for $30, bringing the smell of their favorite side dishes into their homes for the holiday season.

A Festive Twist on Holiday Traditions

For those looking to embrace “Sides Season” in every way, Campbell’s new candle collection offers a fun and flavorful way to bring these classics to life. Whether you’re a Friendsgiving fan, a lover of comfort foods, or just looking for a unique holiday gift, these candles are bound to add a little extra holiday cheer.
