Wyoming High Wind Warning Tonight: Gusts Up to 65 MPH to Impact I-80



Cheyenne, WY – Southeastern Wyoming residents should prepare for extreme wind conditions starting late tonight through Sunday afternoon. Gusts could reach 60-65 mph, posing hazards for drivers, especially on I-80 and I-25. Travelers with high-profile or lightweight vehicles should avoid these routes during the advisory period.

According to the National Weather Service in Cheyenne, the high wind warning is in effect from 11 p.m. Saturday to 2 p.m. Sunday. The strongest gusts are expected in wind-prone areas like Bordeaux and the section of I-80 between Arlington and Elk Mountain. Officials warn of reduced visibility and dangerous crosswinds, urging all motorists to use caution.

The current forecast shows sunny and breezy conditions Sunday, with a high near 46°F. Winds will gradually decrease Sunday evening, falling to 5-10 mph. For Monday, expect mostly sunny skies with a high of 50°F and lighter winds. However, blustery conditions will return Tuesday, with a chance of snow showers in the morning. Highs will drop to 31°F.

Drivers planning travel along I-80 or I-25 should monitor road conditions on Wyoming 511. Consider delaying trips until winds subside. Residents should secure outdoor items to prevent damage.
