Individual dies in self-inflicted shooting during mental health crisis in Frederick

FREDERICK, MD — A person experiencing a mental health crisis died Saturday after sustaining a self-inflicted gunshot wound in the 300 block of West Seventh Street, according to local authorities.

Frederick police, working alongside the Crisis Response Team and trained crisis negotiators, were called to the scene to assist the individual and provide mental health support in a controlled environment.
