Marion Barry mural celebration to bring street closures, parking restrictions in D.C.

Washington, D.C.As the city commemorates the opening of the Marion Barry Legacy Mural this Saturday, November 23, drivers in the District of Columbia should be aware that parking will be restricted and streets will be closed.

From 6:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., 4th Street, NW, between E Street and D Street, will be blocked to automobile traffic, according to a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department. During the same hours, parking restrictions will also be in place along the 400 block of Indiana Avenue, NW, north side only, and along the same section of the road.

Officials warned that cars that violate emergency no-parking signs would be impounded and given tickets. In order to prevent delays, drivers are urged to pay attention to signage and think about taking different routes.

Because the celebration is expected to garner a lot of public attention, authorities expect more pedestrian movement in the region. When driving close to the event, drivers are asked to use caution.
