Pennsylvania’s Harrisburg. Days after being released from prison for attacking his ex-girlfriend, Kaylene Roedel, Christopher Rowe, 50, was found guilty by a jury of first-degree murder in the 2016 murder, Pennsylvania Attorney General Michelle Henry said Thursday.
Rowe was also found guilty by the jury of filing false reports to law police and aggravated assault. On August 7, 2016, Roedel, a mother and Rowe’s ex-partner, was discovered dead on a Johnstown hiking route. In the days preceding Roedel’s abduction, Rowe had threatened her at work, according to the authorities.
Surveillance footage showing Roedel’s car close to the location where her death was found, with Rowe in possession of the vehicle, was one piece of evidence shown during the trial. Additionally, witnesses testified that Rowe confessed to strangling Roedel and threatened to kill the witness if they disclosed his confession, according to the testimony presented by the prosecution.
Attorney General Henry claimed that after openly threatening the woman at her workplace, the defendant ruthlessly killed the mother of his kid. She continued, “Nothing will bring Kaylene back, but we hope this verdict offers a small measure of peace for her loved ones.” She praised the efforts of the jurors and law enforcement in obtaining the conviction.
When Rowe is officially sentenced in January 2025, he will be given a mandatory life term without the possibility of parole.
