Jersey City, New Jersey The Jersey City Fire Department and Hudson County Regional Arson Task Force are investigating a fire that happened at a residential building on Monticello Avenue on Wednesday. Emergency personnel saw significant smoke and fire in the building’s basement and first-floor corridor when they arrived at 274 Monticello Avenue just before 6:00 a.m.
Two people were found injured during reaction operations: a 32-year-old man and a 70-year-old lady. For additional medical care, both were first brought to Jersey City Medical Center before being sent to Jacobi Medical Center in New York City. They are said to be in stable condition.
Currently, the fire, which started in the basement, is not thought to be suspicious. The incident has resulted in the displacement of 33 individuals, and a firefighter is seeking treatment at Jersey City Medical Center after suffering minor injuries.
