Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. United States Attorney Eric G. Olshan announced Thursday that a man from Shippenville had been sentenced to 21 years and 10 months in federal prison, with a 10-year supervised release period, for crimes involving the sexual exploitation of a juvenile.
The punishment was handed down by United States District Judge Christy Criswell Wiegand to 41-year-old Thomas Joseph Manno.
Court filings state that Manno exhibited interest in child sexual assault in June 2022 while corresponding online with an undercover law enforcement official. According to authorities, Manno sent the officer pictures of children being sexually exploited, one of which was a picture he had taken himself.
The FBI, Pennsylvania State Police, and Montgomery County (Texas) Constable’s Office investigated the case, which was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Heidi M. Grogan.
Project Safe Childhood, a national Department of Justice project started in 2006 to address child sexual exploitation and abuse, includes this prosecution.
