A man was killed in a vicious drive-by shooting in St. Paul, Minnesota, on Friday afternoon. Two children were compelled to see the horrific assault. Gunfire broke out as the father and the young passengers were sitting in his car, ruining their afternoon and creating a terrifying scene of carnage in the middle of the day.
Details of the Shooting
The 600 block of Aurora Avenue was the scene of the incident at approximately 1:30 p.m. When St. Paul police arrived on the scene, they discovered that the victim had been shot many times in the upper torso. Soon later, an ambulance came, but the man passed away on the way to the hospital in spite of efforts to save him.
Police said that when shots were fired from a passing car, the victim, another male, and two small children were seated in a parked car. Authorities think that a small, black car—possibly an SUV—passed the car and started shooting. The car fled south on Dale Street following the gunshot.
The two kids in the car and the other man were unharmed. The children witnessed the horrific act but were not physically harmed.
Investigation and Community Appeal
This is St. Paul’s 29th homicide of the year. In contrast, the city saw 32 homicides in 2023, highlighting the persistent worries about an increase in violence.
The suspects in the shooting are still unnamed, and as of Saturday morning, no one has been taken into custody. Anyone with information is asked to call St. Paul police at 651-266-5650.
